Summary Description
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator creates and leads engaging Sunday programming for K–5th grade children, recruits and trains volunteers, and communicates with families while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities
Following the direction and guidance of the Pastor, coordinates, develops and implements faith growing and discipleship opportunities for kids, ages preschool through 5th grade.  Recruits and equips volunteer and volunteer leaders, determining requirements for, and ensuring availability of facilities, supplies and equipment to support Sunday kids’ programming.
  • Creates, coordinates and facilitates opportunities of connecting families to the life of the church, creating community and providing opportunities for kids to grow in their faith journey
  • Creates a sustainable and affordable structure for Sunday kids’ programming, identifies problem areas and recommends operational policies and practices to the Pastor.
  • Maintains clear and concise weekly communication with parents.
  • Manages the budget for kids programming and events at Restoration Church under the guidance of the Pastor.
  • Supervises kids programming volunteers, ensuring that they have been properly trained and vetted for safety. 
  • Develops an awareness and engagement strategy for inclusion and education with children whose particular needs require accommodation or adjustment of programs and interactions.
  • Attends all necessary meetings as directed by the Pastor in order to ensure that when dealing with internal affairs and making day to day decisions that they are in line with the Pastor’s overall vision and direction of the kids’ programming.

Qualifications and Aptitudes
  • BA or equivalent.
  • Willing spirit and attentiveness to children.  Experience with children.  Ability to be present on Sunday mornings.  
  • Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of lesson planning, business functions, resource allocation, event management and production.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms with the ability to edit and release content as needed.
  • A broad understanding of Christian principles is essential for purposes of researching and evaluating Sunday morning curriculum, to ensure clarity and strength of United Methodist values.
